God’s dream is that His House would be a ‘House of Prayer for all People’ ! The Forest Lake Church hosts House of Prayer Experience (H.o.P.E) every Wednesday at 7PM. From the time we have begun meeting in a small classroom to its current space since 2007, we have seen God calling His people to prayer. Every Wednesday, H.o.P.E becomes a place for a God encounter for many. We pray that many more House of Prayer Experiences will begin to rise up all over the US and the rest of the world. Here are weekly stories of H.o.P.E that remind us that God is at work in our lives and everywhere!

A Future and a Hope

July 25, 2009

The promise of a future and a hope became a real source of strength for many of us who experienced the grace and power of corporate prayer this past week!

Yasmin’s love for her cousin Luz was evident as she introduced us to this young woman who is facing life-threatening health challenges. Luz had come surrounded by her aunt and boyfriend, Frank. People of H.o.P.E came up to join them and to tie symbolic knots on the prayer quilt prepared for her by the Prayer&Squares Ministry. At one point, her face lit up: She didn’t expect that her doctor would be among the praying people that night. Dr. Vega is a regular participant of H.o.P.E, and we couldn’t help rejoicing for praying medical professionals! Another “Luz” and also a faithful participant of Wednesday night’s meeting said a prayer for the young woman in Spanish, her mother tongue before Dr. Derek Morris anointed her forehead with oil.

Pastor Derek also introduced us to a courageous young man who is reaching out to God and for a new start- one free from substance abuse. Kevin who has been set free from the grip of drug addiction encouraged him and other young men surrounded him as prayers for continued breakthrough ascended on his behalf!

The wheelchair on which Don came to prayer meeting couldn’t hold him back. He rolled himself up forward. He had requested prayer and anointing a couple of weeks ago before his surgery. Now he was praising God for his progress and thanking people for their support! He was yet another reminder of the realness of God’s presence and power in our midst!
